In 1980, a South Vietnamese soldier, Lê, and his wife, Kim, with their young son Bằng, made the life-and-death decision to escape from war-torn Vietnam. Though it cost them everything at the time, the legacy has been one of freedom, opportunity, and spiritual rebirth.
But now everything gained seems to hang in the balance, as the long shadows of coercion, propaganda and authoritarian control stretch across their new beautiful homeland of Australia.
